From August 2005 until January 2013, I was the Art Director for Skateboarder Magazine, a teenage dream come true. Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Southern California seemed like another planet to me. Actually becoming the Art Director of a major skateboarding publication in the skateboarding mecca of Southern California, was a great experience both creatively, and personally. Designing a monthly magazine with over 100 pages containing 3 features, really allowed me to experiment creatively and master my craft. Here’s a selection of opening spreads from those days. I am very thankful that I had this opportunity and met so many incredible, skateboarders, writers, designers, and photographers during those years. I am lucky to still call many of them friends.
